Viscera Studio’s 2nd Anniversary

It's incredible to think that our studio is already two years old! In a short time, we have made a considerable impact in our work. As I reflect on our journey, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. The journey from being a freelance designer to establishing a fully-fledged studio with a dedicated staff is a reminder that none of us can achieve great things alone. I am fortunate to have been surrounded by individuals who have supported, provided feedback, and helped us through uncertain and challenging times.

First and foremost, I am immensely grateful for our staff. Without them, none of this would have been possible. I feel fortunate to be surrounded by exceptionally intelligent, creative, and compassionate individuals who are not only dedicated to delivering their best work but are also committed to addressing the most crucial needs of our clients. We strive to create outcomes that go beyond visual deliverables, such as logos and websites. The true impact of our work lies in promoting economic empowerment, freedom, liberation, and opportunity for everyone. These are the values that drive our mission. Along the way, I have been fortunate to have incredible advisors and mentors who have provided not only the technical expertise to help our business grow sustainably but also the emotional support to build a business that aligns with our values and those of our clients.

We are incredibly fortunate to have the best clients in the world. While I may be biased, I’m pretty sure it’s true. Our clients are deeply devoted to their work, kind-hearted individuals, and genuinely committed to creating a more just and vibrant world, particularly for marginalized people.  I am grateful that they have entrusted us with their projects, as partners and collaborators, and I am privileged to consider them friends. Word of mouth has been a significant source of new business for us, and I am immensely grateful to our clients for connecting us with more like-minded individuals.

Other entrepreneurs in my circle have played a significant role in helping me work through perplexing and even messy and complicated problems. They are the ones who cheerlead and encourage me along the way and remind me that the work we do is essential and worthwhile. In this uncertain economic climate, small businesses need each other's support, and we are proud to be part of a community that values social capital.

As we look ahead to our third year, we have exciting plans and projects to share with you. Despite our growth and the significant undertakings that lie before us, we have managed to maintain a 4-day workweek. As someone who appreciates rest and the occasional nap, this is particularly important to me. In year three, we are eager to foster deeper relationships. We have expanded our client base to include cities, larger-scale organizations, and even tech companies. Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that we will be hiring new staff soon. Lastly, we are excited to expand beyond the Bay Area. While I spent time between Oakland and Brooklyn last year, nurturing relationships on the East Coast, I want to assure you that I will not be leaving Oakland–it holds a special place in my heart, and I am committed to bringing a taste of the Bay to the rest of the world.

Thank you for being part of our journey, and we can’t wait to show you all what’s next.
